What happened: At its Tuesday meeting, the Madera County Board of Supervisors directed staff to allocate $100,000 of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to pay for Madera Community Hospital’s license renewal.

The hospital’s license was set to expire on May 26 and the pandemic relief funds will be set aside for the license renewal, according to Administrative Analyst Jessica Leon.

No comments were made by the public and the item was unanimously approved by the supervisors.

Later in the meeting, County Administrative Officer Jay Varney said that Gov. Gavin Newsom had signed the Distressed Hospital Loan Program for $150 million.
