One lot is charging $8 to $20 for three hours of parking. Another is charging up to $1.50 an hour.

Community members had no say in the change to parking, and have shared concern over the new changes on social media. The Fresno Bee confirmed these are not city-run parking lots.

More than 900 people showed up to Reedley College for a talk by the two guys behind “Foos in Medicine,” a pair of medical students who have tried to inspire Latine representation in the medical field through their content on social media.

At the free event, Irvin Garcia and Alexis Alemán spoke to their own experiences at UCLA Medical School, ABC30 reports. The two explained their journey and the need for diversity in the medical field.

Alexis Alemán: “We’ve had students now come up to us and say they’re applying to medical school, they’re applying to nursing school, they’re applying to law school because of us, and that just makes my heart fill like nothing else does.”

3. Sumner Peck Ranch renamed

Sumner Peck Ranch has a new name after the San Joaquin River Parkway got a cease-and-desist letter from the Peck family, KVPR reports

The Peck family originally owned and operated the ranch before selling it to the San Joaquin River Parkway in 2020. The ranch’s name was not a part of the sale, according to attorney Charles Manock, who represents the Peck family.

Manock argued in a letter that the name of the park has caused reputational damage to the Sumner Peck name, especially in the wake of controversy over human composting.

River Parkway Trust Executive Director Sharon Weaver announced the property is now known as Running River Ranch.
