1. Have you voted yet?

The deadline to vote is Tuesday in the ongoing primary election featuring dozens of local races, including a massive shakeup of new blood coming soon to the Fresno City Council.

Still have questions about the candidates and key issues at stake in local races? From city council to the state assembly and U.S. House of Representatives, Fresnoland has you covered with our comprehensive voter guides.

Check out Fresnoland’s 2026 June Primary election guides here.

And, if you haven’t voted yet, Fresno County Clerk James Kus warned residents against dropping their ballot in the mail at this point.

To ensure your vote is counted, Kus said voters need to return their ballots to any of the county’s dozens of voter drop boxes and vote centers, YourCentralValley reports.

2. South Stadium apartments scores $70 million construction bond

For more than a decade, developers Jeff Isenstadt and Mehmet Noyan have struggled to secure funding to build a 174-unit apartment complex next to Chuckchansi Park. City leaders, over the years, have extended several “last chances” for the project to meet critical funding deadlines, including earlier this month when City Hall extended another “drop-deadline.”

But the project’s last, last chance did the trick as city leaders announced the nearly $70 million in bond-market funding, opening the door to — finally — break ground perhaps as soon as later this summer, Fresnoland’s Pablo Orihuela reports.

Friday’s funding announcement gives Mayor Jerry Dyer a significant victory, who has long pushed to bring more people to the city’s downtown neighborhoods.

The two-term mayor has also faced criticism over his administration’s signature SEDA plan, a project detractors say would only fuel the city’s history of sprawl development at the expense of existing neighborhoods and communities.

Mayor Dyer: “The Park at South Stadium Apartments represents everything we have been working toward — quality infill housing, affordability, and a vibrant urban core.”

3. Amazon to open fifth distribution center in Fresno

Amazon has been confirmed as the first tenant at Fresno’s Westgate Industrial Center near Highway 99 and Marks Avenue, the Business Journal reports.

It would be Fresno’s fifth Amazon distribution facility.

City and county officials have praised the project as a major economic development effort expected to create hundreds of construction and warehouse jobs.
