☀️ Good morning! It’s Thursday, Aug. 1. This is Rob, and yeah, I checked, it’s still summer in Fresno. Triple-digit heat returns this afternoon, with the National Weather Service calling for a high today of around 102. Expect temperatures to linger above 100 in the coming days, peaking around 104 or 105 early next week.

💃🏽 Shinzen Friendship Garden is hosting “Music in the Garden” from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today. The event features music performed by the band “Ripe for the Pickin’,” who recreate the original energy and high-lonesome sound of Bluegrass music. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children—reserve online here.

💰 Republican vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance was in Fresno County on Wednesday, making what Politico described as the “time-honored pilgrimage to the iconic Harris Ranch” for a $3,300 per plate fundraiser hosted by John Harris and Richard Spencer. Speaking with The Fresno Bee, county Supervisor Buddy Mendes said the event drew around 150 people. Mendes told The Bee that Vance talked “a little bit” about agriculture water issues but “really just in generalities.”
