☀️ Good morning! It’s Tuesday, Sept. 17. This is Rob. Expect a high of around 78 today as clouds begin crowding the Central Valley skies ahead of possible rain storms Wednesday and Thursday. The National Weather Service calls for a 50% chance of rain during the middle of the week before warmer temperatures return over the weekend.
🌮 Fresno’s first ever ‘Why Not Wednesday’ kicks off on … well, Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. downtown. The event comes after a controversial decision to split Fresno’s popular ArtHop event in August. The first post-food-truck ArtHop launched earlier this month and saw relatively tiny crowds. The Fresno Business Journal reported that the new Wednesday event has space for more than 150 street food vendors.
🏛️A new report from the CDC’s workplace safety division concluded the 2023 death of a poultry plant worker was preventable, saying workers lacked the necessary training and equipment to properly handle the chemical safety issues at the plan. KVPR reported that 66-year-old Jesus Salazar Castillo on May 6, 2023, passed out due to toxic fumes and fell into an “offal wastewater pit” where he drowned. A Fresno Bee investigation earlier this year reported at least four deaths at the same Sanger facility in the last eight years.
