🔥A National Weather Service Red Flag warning remains in effect until 8 a.m. Tuesday as California’s fire season heats up. The largest fire burning on Monday was the Post Fire in Los Angeles County, which torched more than 14,000 acres since igniting on Friday, according to Cal Fire reports. Nearly a dozen wildfires were burning on Monday morning, including the Elgin Fire, north of Dos Palos in Merced County. But while much of the nation braces for the first major heatwave of 2024, Fresno expects relatively cool temperatures this week. Monday’s high should clock in around 86, according to the National Weather Service, ahead of a gradual warm-up heading into the weekend of more triple-digit heat.

🗑️A public hearing is set for Thursday (June 20) at City Hall in Fresno over efforts to raise trash rate pick-up fees. If approved, new fees would go into effect July 1, gradually increasing rates for homeowners by about $20 over the next five years. The last trash rate hike in Fresno happened in 2009, and authorities have cited costs that have increased by millions of dollars over the last 15 years.
