🤒Cases of Valley Fever are rising in Fresno County, KVPR reports. The Fresno County Department of Public Health released figures as part of Valley Fever Awareness Month last week with at least 540 cases confirmed this year — so far.
“That’s on track to overtake the caseload from the last two years,” KVPR reported. “Valley Fever is a fungal disease contracted primarily by breathing in dust.”
Western Fresno County, including Firebaugh, Mendota and Kerman, is considered a valley fever “endemic” area — “meaning residents there are at an increased risk for the illness.”
