☀️ Good morning! It’s Monday, Aug. 26. This is Rob. After an unseasonable cool weekend, Fresno returns to its regularly scheduled summer heat programming this week. The National Weather Service in Hanford calls for a high around 94 today, with a gradual climb toward triple digits as the week goes on. Fresno could cross the century mark again around the middle of the week with a high temperature of around 100.
🩸The Big Fresno Fair and the Central California Blood Center are collaborating to host the 14th annual “Pint for a Pass” Blood Drive from Aug, 27 to Oct. 14. Donate at any Central California Blood Center location or mobile drive to earn a “buy-one-get-one-free” voucher for tickets to the Big Fresno Fair, and be entered in a chance to win tickets for concerts and horse races!
🌴🌲 A pair of trees known as “the palm and the pine,” a nearly-century-old landmark mystery outside Fresno that many believe represents California’s geographic midpoint, will soon be coming down to make way for another freeway expansion, KVPR reports. “Thousands of cars, semi trucks, and freight trains pass by each day. While most drivers likely don’t notice the site, some seek it out and even say it conjures a feeling of home,” KVPR reported. And while authorities are planning another monument in its place, many locals are disappointed to lose a familiar landmark.
