Fresno’s cool down picks up momentum this week with an expected high today around 72! Temperatures are expected to hover in the high 70s and low 80s as the weekend approaches. The National Weather Service in Hanford says Fresno could even see some rain around the middle of the week. Hot weather is expected to return next week.

🍯 The public is invited to Wednesdays on the West for an evening of “pottery and community.” Hosted by the Alley in the Valley, the event features live demonstrations of wheel-throwing and hand-building from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Edison High School. More information

🚓 Fresno city leaders beefed up the reward offered for information leading to the arrest of the man caught on camera last month kicking a sleeping man in the head, ABC30 reported. The $2,000 reward was doubled late last week when Councilmember Mike Karbassi contributed $1,000 from his council budget. The 47-year-old unhoused man was sleeping on Olive Avenue in the Tower District early Aug. 26 when a man kicked him in the head several times.

‘Strangers in a Promised Land’ highlights challenges of Fresno’s first Armenian settlers

“Strangers in a Promised Land” chronicles the arrival of Armenian refugees in Fresno and the discrimination they faced.
Fresno State will host a screening on Sept. 20, followed by a panel discussion featuring Fresno Armenians interviewed in the documentary.
