Clovis City Council
The Clovis City Council makes decisions on the scope, direction and financing of city services. It also establishes policy that is administered and implemented by city staff, as well as establishing land-use policies through the General Plan and zoning regulations.
Meetings usually occur on the first, second and third Mondays of each month at 6 p.m. Meetings take place at 1033 Fifth St. in Clovis and are also webcast via WebEx and YouTube.
At Monday’s Clovis City Council meeting, council members criticized Diane Pearce for creating a public debate of its existing flag policy, plus a 500-acre northwest annexation was approved despite lingering water concerns.
At its May 8 meeting, the Clovis City Council voted to reject two claims against the police department, one alleging excessive force resulting in bodily injury and the other for discrimination within the workplace.
At its Monday meeting, the Clovis City Council once again voted to deny residents the ability to lawfully keep backyard chickens and in a 4-1 vote appointed Joseph Hebert to the Planning Commission.
