Overview:

With certain parts of California banning fireworks, this year’s 4th of July celebrations come with the traditional concerns over fire from elected officials and first responders alike.

For residents looking to watch fireworks illuminate the valley skies all week, here’s a list of where you can watch fireworks shows in and around Fresno leading up to July 4.

This year’s Independence Day celebrations may look different as some counties have banned the use of fireworks over concerns of fires. This includes San Luis Obispo County, Mariposa County and areas in eastern Madera County.

In Fresno, first responders warn against using fireworks that don’t carry the State Fire Marshal’s “Safe and Sane” seal. All fireworks carrying the seal are legal to possess and use.

The City of Fresno currently penalizes the use of illegal fireworks with fines of $2,000 for the first violation, $3,000 for the second if done within a rolling 12 month period and $5,000 for the third and all subsequent violations in a rolling 12 month period. Landowners who don’t set off illegal fireworks but allow them to be used on their properties can be held accountable.

Across the state, the State Fire Marshal’s office has seized over 600,000 pounds of illegal fireworks just in 2025. The 10-year average for seized fireworks is only 240,000 pounds.
