Tiogaland, a Disney-inspired event by Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Co., is set to bring beer, food and community together on June 20 in Downtown Fresno.

Imagine this: A sour apple beer slush in one hand and a turkey leg in the other, surrounded by people dressed as Princess Tiana, Belle, or their favorite Disney character — all to bring a little magic to downtown Fresno.

That’s the vibe at Tiogaland: The Happiest Place in Fresno, a whimsical, Disney-inspired event hosted by Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Co. on Friday, June 20, from 5 to 10 p.m. at its downtown Fresno location.

Michael Cruz, president of Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Co., said the idea behind Tiogaland is to fuse the brewery’s signature branding with a beloved cultural phenomenon — and offer the community something special without breaking the bank.

“We’re always trying to plan events with heart — something that gets people genuinely excited,” Cruz said. “This one’s about capturing some of that culturally driven magic — celebrating the spirit of childhood and bringing a little Disney joy to the heart of Fresno.”

The brewery has a history of pop culture-themed events. In July 2019, they hosted a SpongeBob SquarePants celebration for the cartoon’s 20th anniversary. That event featured food trucks competing in a Krabby Patty Showdown, games for all ages, and photo ops that transported attendees into the world of Bikini Bottom.

This year’s Tiogaland promises a similarly immersive experience: themed food and drinks, live entertainment, family-friendly activities, and plenty of opportunities for cosplay and photos.

Eight local food businesses will be serving everything from Jungle skewers and churros to funnel cakes and mini Juleps, all inspired by Disney movies and characters.

Ahlden and Rio Maroney, siblings who help run their family business, Boarding Pass Eats, said they want to bring a little sparkle to Tiogaland through their food.

For their first time vending at a Tioga-Sequoia event, they’re serving up a beignet inspired by Disney’s Princess and the Frog, topped with cocoa, condensed milk, caramel, powdered sugar, and a sprinkle of edible glitter.

They are part of the Clovis Culinary Center, a nonprofit that provides small businesses with 24/7 access to a professional kitchen and offers culinary business services. There, they met Mike “Oz” Osegueda, president of Fresno Street Eats, who invited them to participate in Tiogaland.

Limited-edition merch will also be available, including a “Tiogaland 1st Visit” button, a color-changing Tiogaland cup, Toy Story–inspired shirts, enamel pins, and sweatshirts featuring the classic Disneyland-style lettering across the back that spells out “Tiogaland Fresno.”

The merch will only be available in person, Cruz said, to encourage people to stop by and experience the event.

Tioga-Sequoia has also redesigned several of its beer cans and crafted new flavors inspired by iconic Disney characters and scenes, created exclusively for the event.

Tiogaland will also feature a costume party where guests are encouraged to dress as their favorite Disney character. The most spirited attendee will win a first-place prize: a three-day Park Hopper pass to Disneyland. The runner-up will receive a Tiogaland merch bundle.

The hope for Tiogaland, Cruz said, is to make it an annual event that features rotating merchandise, food, drinks, and activities — all celebrating the intersection of beer, art, food, and community.
