What happened: At their Tuesday meeting, the Tulare County Supervisors approved the issuance of $40 million in tax-exempt bonds from the California Municipal Finance Authority for a Family HealthCare Network (FHCN) project, which includes a clinic expansion in Orosi, health care center in Springville, new administrative building, and a service site in Visalia.

According to the agenda, approximately $3 million of the bonds will be used to add medical exam rooms and dental rooms to an existing FHCN clinic in Orosi; $3 million will be used to construct an 8,000-square-foot health center at 0 River Island Drive in Springville to replace a leased facility; $5 million will be used to construct a two-story administrative building at 409 Bridge Street in Visalia to house about 100 FHCN employees and call center; while $9 million will be used to fund the purchase and renovation of a building at 510 East School Street in Visalia to be used a service site for FHCN’s Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) program.

And also: The supervisors also approved the purchase of the former Casa Grande Assisted Living facility property in Visalia for $5.6 million to be used as a mental health supportive housing site.

General Services Agency Mental Health Director Natalie Bolin gave a presentation explaining the project. She said it will be an augmented board and care supportive housing site that includes services such as community connections, independent living skills, and case management.

The 3.02-acre site includes two buildings located at 347 E. Walnut Ave. in Visalia.
