What happened: The City of Fresno’s Parks, Recreation & Arts Commission met on Nov. 21, 2022 to discuss plans for Measure P funding. The commission approved the following allocations for review by the city council: security for the Fresno Art Museum, $250,000 for cricket fields at JSK and the Regional Complex, $250,000 for the MLK Park, $250,000 for field hockey development, funding for youth and young adult music, film, play and dance training programs.

$1M for organizations: The commission also approved recommending $1 million for projects that fit within the scope of Measure P, which community organizations can apply for. There will be specific guidelines and criteria for who can apply and the maximum amount. A sub-committee of the commission will be established to help develop the criteria.

Warming and cooling centers: A motion for increasing the availability of warming and cooling centers passed. The commission also discussed encouraging outreach to communities.
