The Scene

According to its website, The Madera Board of Supervisors is the legislative and executive governing body of the Madera County government. Each of the five supervisorial districts of the County elects one supervisor.

Within limits prescribed by State law, the Board enacts ordinances and rules, determines County policy, supervises the activities of County departments, adopts an annual budget, and fixes salaries.

The Board meets regularly the first three Tuesdays of each month and occasionally on Mondays in the Board Chambers of the County Government Center in Madera. On Tuesday, Mar. 15, 2022, the meeting was at 9:00 am.

Jerry Martinez from Public Works said that the department has successfully submitted waiver applications of low population census tracts. He mentioned a CalRecycle program that funds clean-up of farmlands. 

Trash Advisory Group (TAG) member from Oakhurst Danny Metz urged the Board to apply for countywide waivers for unincorporated areas superseding census tract waivers. 

TAG has prepared a draft waiver application ready for submission to CalRecycle. He seeks the County to clarify terms in the ordinance such as “non mandatory waivers.”

John Carlton clarified that the item excludes action that authorizes a collection of fees. 

7.e. 8355: The Board (4-0) approved the discussion and consideration to adopt the Side Letters of Agreement with the Clerical/Technical, Deputy Probation Officer, Mid-Management, Post Graduate Licensed Professional, and Probation Management Units regarding the 2022 Vacation Cashout Program.
