Reedley City Council
The Reedley City Council makes decisions for the scope, direction and financing of city services. It also establishes policy that is administered and implemented by city staff, as well as establishing land-use policies through the General Plan and zoning regulations.
Meetings usually occur at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 845 G Street in Reedley. The meetings are also accessible through Zoom.
At its Jan. 24 meeting, the Reedley City Council approved an engineering agreement to develop a traffic signal at the entrance to Reedley College on Reed Avenue and $23,100 for rehabilitation of the historic Reedley Opera House.
At its Dec. 13, 2022 meeting, the Reedley City Council and city staff expressed thanks to outgoing Councilmember Ray Soleno who retired after serving for 36 years.
The council reallocated $100,000 in ARPA funds for initial work on a future city hall facility, met two new code enforcement officers, and approved funding for internships for Reedley High School students through the Expanded Learning Program.
The council approved full-time employee benefit renewals for 2023 with a projected cost increase of nearly $155,000 and received a presentation on a $4.2 million grant received by the county from the HOME American Rescue Plan Program.
The council approved a rezone to allow Kings Canyon Unified School District to expand their offices on 8th Street in the future and discussed the possibility of creating a permanent parklet program for downtown restaurants wishing to utilize outdoor space.
Residents asked the city for information on a West Island development, the council appointed Suzanne Byers to the District 3 seat and they approved a contract with Fresno Street Eats and allocated CDBG funds for projects from Columbia to Haney Avenue.
