☀️ Hello! It’s Tuesday, July 23. This is Rob. The latest excessive heat warning from the National Weather Service remains in effect today over Fresno and the rest of the central San Joaquin Valley as temperatures raced back up over 105 this week. Expect a high today of around 109, followed by 108 on Wednesday and 106 Thursday. The warning is set to expire late Thursday — but has already been extended once this week — as the heat backs off slightly heading into the weekend.

💵In a unanimous vote last week, the Sanger City Council declared a state of emergency over its crumbling wastewater treatment plant, The Fresno Bee’s Melissa Montalvo reported. City leaders told The Bee they needed an emergency declaration to expedite the deferred maintenance — which could cost as much $12 million — without a competitive bidding process that officials said would slow the repairs.

🍺 Dubbed the “perfect tailgate beer,” Fresno State announced a new partnership with Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Company along with plans to release the new adult beverage next month. Fresno State’s first officially licensed craft beer is brewed by Bulldog alumni and a portion of the revenue goes back to the school’s athletic department. The lager will be available starting in mid-August at Save Mart stores throughout the Central Valley. The beer will also be sold in select bars and restaurants such as Tioga Sequoia’s taprooms in Fresno and Merced, and the Dog House Grill across from the university, KSEE reported.
