Madera City Council
The Madera City Council makes decisions for the scope, direction and financing of city services. It also establishes policy that is administered and implemented by city staff, as well as establishing land-use policies through the General Plan and zoning regulations.
Meetings usually occur at 6 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 205 W. 4th Street in Madera. They are also available to public viewing and participation through Zoom.
The council approved a grant application for PLHA funds of up to $2.5 million, three separate street vacations requested by developers and two developer reimbursements for park improvements — one for up to $1 million.
The council denied pursuing a request to make rolled curbs standard, approved a reimbursement of for Almond Park improvements to a developer, learned about low-cost auto insurance, received an update on parks department projects and appointed council members to a PG&E Working Group.
The council approved cannabis business permit appeal fees, the pyrethroid pesticide management plan, contracts with ten on-call engineering services agreements totaling $9 million and naming a new park after Joseph Taubert.
The council approved a project list for the Reconnecting Communities Pilot Program grant application, two subdivisions, heard a request to make rolled curbs standard and received an update on the cannabis permit process.
The council approved a contract for services related to a development impact fee program update, a bid for park memorial monuments and were presented with the 2022-23 budget, which will be voted on at a special meeting Aug. 24.
