Clovis Planning Commission
The Clovis Planning Commission reviews development proposals for compliance with the General Plan and makes recommendations to the city council regarding long range plans, development and zoning or rezoning of property. Members are appointed by the mayor and approved by the city council
Meetings usually occur at 6 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month at 1033 Fifth St. in Clovis. They are also webcast via WebEx and YouTube.
At its Jan. 26 meeting, the Clovis Planning Commission moved forward a rezone to multi-family residential for a 12-unit infill development near Alluvial and Sunnyside Avenues.
After hearing from more than ten residents concerned about its impact on traffic and loitering in the area, the commissioners moved forward a convenience store with liquor license and a drive-thru for the corner of Clovis and Dakota Avenues, in addition to plans to incorporate VMT requirements into the General Plan.
The commissioners approved a conditional use permit allowing for a hotel with rooftop restaurant to be built on Clovis Avenue adjacent to Highway 168 and extended the deadline for Athletic Performance to meet requirements for its CUP.
The commissioners approved a gated single-family home development and the Home Place Master Plan for 310 acres, which will include 1,174 single-family homes, 132 multi-family units and a five-acre neighborhood commercial site.
The council approved a bid award for a new Sunnyside Ave. bike lane and a feasibility study exploring solutions for bringing the Clovis Landfill into compliance with a Valley Air District rule.
