💰Downtown gets another $100 million: Gov. Newsom made good on another down payment to Fresno’s revitalization efforts, Mayor Dyer announced this morning in a press release. The funding comes in today’s state budget deal after $50 million — mostly for infrastructure — was awarded to the city in 2023.

“The state’s investment into Fresno is a once-in-a-generation opportunity,” Dyer said, in an emailed statement. “Thanks to the Governor, Senator Caballero, Assemblymembers Soria and Arambula, the legislative leadership, the Department of Finance, and so many others who are helping this vision become a reality – Fresno is ready to deliver on a vision that will benefit this community for decades to come.”

🌳 San Joaquin River Gorge safe from sale — for now. Utah Senator Mike Lee announced Saturday evening that he was pulling his controversial proposal to sell off public lands for housing development, initially included in President Trump’s ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’. The Salt Lake Tribune

Rep. David Valadao gets some credit: Outdoor Alliance, the national outdoor enthusiasts advocacy group fighting the public lands sale, named the Hanford congressman, among other representatives, in a statement on their site thanking legislators along with millions of voices who weighed in to pushback on the massive sale of land. The Senate has begun voting on the ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ today — which includes substantive cuts to essential programs serving Fresno County residents, from MediCal to affordable housing to food assistance.

🏛️ Fresno County man was detained by ICE — without a criminal record. Yan Garcia-Heredia was a legal asylum seeker from Venezuela who had recently immigrated to Mendota to work in the fields. He was maligned with the Tren de Aragua gang, arrested by Fresno County Sheriffs, and detained by ICE. San Francisco Chronicle
