What's at stake:
Fresnoland is your one stop for live Prop. 50 election results during California's 2025 statewide special election.
California voters approved Proposition 50, according to projections by The Associated Press and Politico.
Election officials are still tallying up all the votes after polls closed at 8 p.m. on Nov. 4. Results show that Prop. 50 was approved by more than 7 million voters across the state — about 64% of votes counted so far.
Fresno County voters, however, were much more divided on the issue.
As of 4:13 p.m. on Friday, the Fresno County Clerk/Registrar of Voters counted 223,173 ballots so far. About 51.94% of those ballots voted for Prop. 50, and 48.06% voted against it.
It’s a somewhat slim margin: Only about 8,000 ballots (out of more than 223,000) account for the difference between “Yes” and “No” votes — of the ballots counted so far.
Another 3,710 ballots need to be counted, which would put Fresno County voter turnout at about 42.8% for the Prop. 50 statewide special election.
Looking ahead, updates are expected by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19.
